ISSN 0001-5555 Sir, Sebaceous naevi (organoid naevi) are hamartomatous proliferations that usually appear at birth or early in life, and are most commonly located on the scalp and face (1). They often present as round or oval lesions, and occasionally distribute in a linear pattern (2). Frequently, sebaceous naevi are complicated by the development of secondary tumours, such as syringocystadenoma papilliferum, trichoblastoma, and trichilemmoma. Except for systematized sebaceous naevi, sebaceous naevi on the legs are extremely rare, and only three cases have been reported so far (3–5). Therefore, it is difficult to make a diagnosis of sebaceous naevus when it occurs on the leg in a linear distribution that is rather characteristic of non-organoid (keratinocytic) epidermal naevi. We report here a case of sebaceous naevus on the leg complicated by trichoblastoma. Molecular investigations for FGFR3 and PIK3CA mutations, both of which have been identified in non-organoid epidermal naevi (6, 7), were performed.

Basal cell carcinoma arising in a sebaceous naevus

Sebaceous naevus is a rare non-melanocytic congenital skin hamartoma. Even more rare is the transformation of these lesions into malignant skin cancers, most notably basal cell carcinomas (BCCs). We discuss a case in an adult with later malignant transformation into BCC reported by clinical pathologists. There is dispute about the accurate incidence of malignant transformation. More recently, r...

Pigmented trichoblastoma arising from the nevus sebaceous: a rare case in Korea.

Trichoblastoma is occasionally observed in association with a pre-existing nevus sebaceous in the Korean literature. However, there has been no report on the pigmented type. Herein, we report the first Korean case of a pigmented trichoblastoma arising from the nevus sebaceous on the forehead. A 28-year-old male presented with a dark nodular lesion within a yellowish plaque on the forehead. The ...

Rippled pattern extraocular sebaceous carcinoma: a rare case report with brief review of literature.

Sebaceous carcinoma (SC) is a highly aggressive malignant adnexal tumor of sebaceous gland origin, accounting for less than 1% of cutaneous. Extraocular sebaceous carcinomas are more aggressive than their ocular counterpart with a predilection for the skin of head and neck, trunk, salivary glands and extremities in decreasing order of frequency. Rippled effect literally means "gradually spreadi...

Apocrine skin carcinoma is an aggressive cutaneous tumour. We report a case of apocrine carcinoma developing in a naevus sebaceous of scalp in a 45 years old male. Malignant transformation of Naevus sebaceous is a rare complication usually found in elderly patients. Most of these tumours are basal cell carcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma. Only few cases of apocrine carcinoma on naevus sebaceou...

Trichoblastic Carcinoma Arising from a Nevus Sebaceous.

Nevus sebaceous is a hamartoma of the cutaneous structures that often presents at birth and typically involves the face and scalp. Nevus sebaceous is frequently complicated by the development of a variety of other benign or malignant neoplasms. The most frequently reported benign neoplasms are trichoblastoma and syringocystadenoma papilliferum. Malignant tumors are much less frequently observed...
